ChatGPT is a generative artificial intelligence chatbot developed by OpenAI.
95% - 2Algolia· Algolia
Algolia is a hosted search and discovery API platform used to power site, app, ecommerce and documentation search. Beyond its fast keyword engine (typo tolerance, faceting, geosearch, merchandising rules), it applies AI throughout: NeuralSearch blends keyword and vector search using Algolia-trained language models, AI ranking, dynamic re-ranking and personalization learn from end-user click and conversion events, Algolia Recommend generates product and content recommendations, and the Intelligent Data Kit enriches records at indexing. Its generative layer comprises Generative Experiences (RAG-based conversational solutions), Ask AI (conversational answers from the search bar), Agent Studio (build, test and deploy AI agents grounded on Algolia indices, bring-your-own LLM from OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, DeepSeek or any OpenAI-compatible provider, with optional per-user Memory) and an MCP server that lets external AI agents search, analyze or monitor indices. Rated medium: the data is ordinary catalog content, search queries, IP addresses and behavioral events rather than special categories by design, Algolia SAS in Paris is the EU contracting processor, and the vendor publishes a DPA, product-specific AI terms and a sub-processor list and reports SOC 2, ISO 27001, ISO 27017 and BSI C5. The open points are AI data use: the Product Specific Terms let Algolia train NeuralSearch models on Subscriber Data across its customer network (personal data excluded, opt-out available but not retroactive); OpenAI, Anthropic and Google (all US) are listed as generative AI sub-processors; Agent Studio Memory builds end-user profiles for personalization; the DPA permits anonymized aggregated data for product development; and the Trust Center content could not be verified. The rating would rise if indexed records or prompts include special-category or children's data, if Agent Studio agents are allowed to take actions (for example on third-party systems) without human review, or if the deployment supports decisions in high-risk domains, which Algolia's own terms prohibit; it could fall to limited for plain keyword site search with NeuralSearch training opted out and no generative features.
90% - 3Coveo AI-Relevance Platform (Relevance Generative Answering, Passage Retrieval API, Agentic AI)· Coveo
Coveo's SaaS AI-Relevance Platform unifies enterprise content and product catalogs in one secure index (with native connectors and item-level permissions) and applies per-customer machine learning (relevance tuning, query suggestions, content and product recommendations, semantic vector search, intent-aware product ranking) to power search, recommendations and personalization for commerce, customer service, websites and the digital workplace. Its generative layer, Relevance Generative Answering (RGA), retrieves the most relevant passages in two stages and sends a grounded prompt to a third-party LLM (OpenAI models via Microsoft Azure OpenAI, or Amazon Bedrock models such as Anthropic Claude, Meta Llama, AWS Nova and Titan) to return answers with citations. The Passage Retrieval API, Answer API and a hosted MCP server expose the same retrieval to customers' own RAG apps and agents (Salesforce Agentforce, SAP Joule, AWS AgentCore, ChatGPT Enterprise), alongside Conversational Search and Conversational Product Discovery. Rated medium: it processes ordinary enterprise content, end-user queries, prompts and behavioral clickstream rather than special-category data by design, permissions are enforced at retrieval, and the vendor has a strong assurance posture (SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, ISO 27018, ISO 27701, HIPAA option, public DPA and sub-processor list, documented 'zero retention' and no-training commitments for the shared LLM). The open points are data flows and use: Azure OpenAI is listed as a US-only sub-processor, so EU-hosted customers may see prompts and retrieved passages leave the EU; the DPA allows use of personal data for developing the Services (short of training models used by other customers); analytics data, including generative events, is kept 3 years; and customers can index sensitive content (emails, HR or health data under the HIPAA option). The rating would rise if the platform is used to answer questions in high-risk contexts (for example eligibility, employment or health decisions), if sensitive or special-category content is indexed and exposed to generation, or if agentic integrations are allowed to act without human review; it could fall to limited for public-website search without generative features.
90% - 4Gorgias AI Agent· Gorgias
Gorgias AI Agent is the generative AI layer of the Gorgias ecommerce helpdesk, used mainly by Shopify, BigCommerce, Magento and WooCommerce merchants. It answers shopper questions autonomously over email and chat (and is marketed for sales and proactive engagement as well as support), drawing on the merchant's Help Center, written Guidance, public URLs and live order and fulfilment data, and can carry out order actions through integrations depending on configuration. According to the vendor's AI Agent security FAQ, it runs on a mix of third-party LLMs (OpenAI and Anthropic) and in-house fine-tuned models, passes each draft through a second-model confidence check, and lets merchants define exclusion and handover topics; every AI answer is logged with the knowledge sources used. Typical users are DTC brand support teams that want to automate tier-1 tickets such as order status, returns and shipping questions. Rated medium. Under the EU AI Act this is a limited-risk system: a chatbot that interacts directly with consumers, so Art. 50 transparency applies, and Gorgias leaves AI disclosure largely to the deployer (chat messages are labelled 'Automated', email disclosure needs a merchant-configured signature). The data is ordinary consumer contact, order and payment-status data rather than special categories, and the assurance posture is reasonable (vendor-reported SOC 2 Type II since 2020 and HIPAA attestation, GCP hosting with EU residency for EU merchants, a DPA with 72-hour breach notice and SCCs). The open points that keep it above low are: the FAQ admits the AI Agent learns from interactions across brands; Anthropic is named as an LLM provider but is missing from the published sub-processor list; most sub-processors are US-based; and the agent can act on orders, not just reply. The rating would rise if merchants in health and wellness or similar verticals let it handle health-related questions (special category data), if it were used to make refund or fraud decisions with significant effect on shoppers, or if cross-brand learning were found to reuse identifiable data. It would fall with an ISO 27001 or ISO 42001 certificate, a complete sub-processor list and contractual opt-out from cross-customer learning.
90% - 5Lucidworks Platform (Fusion / Lucidworks Search and Lucidworks AI)· Lucidworks
The Lucidworks Platform is an AI search and discovery suite from Lucidworks, Inc. (San Francisco) used for B2C and B2B commerce search, enterprise knowledge search and customer service self-help. It comprises Lucidworks Search (formerly Fusion and Managed Fusion, built on Apache Solr and available as SaaS, self-hosted or hybrid), Lucidworks AI (embeddings, neural hybrid search and a generative AI service for RAG, query rewriting, summarization, keyword extraction and entity recognition), Studios for commerce merchandising, analytics, UI and no-code agent building, Signals Beacon for behavioral data capture, connectors for CMS, CRM, ERP and file systems, prebuilt agents (Q&A, conversational Q&A, guided selling, merchandiser insights) and an MCP server. The earlier Springboard cloud product appears to have been folded into this SaaS platform. Generative features run either on Lucidworks-hosted open models (Llama 3.1 8B, Phi-4, Gemma, NuNER), where the docs say data is not exposed to third parties or retained for training, or on OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Google Gemini or Anthropic models through the customer's own API keys. Customers named by the vendor include Lenovo, Morgan Stanley, Red Hat, Cisco, REI and Thermo Fisher Scientific. Rated medium: product search, recommendations and enterprise retrieval are not Annex III high-risk uses under the EU AI Act, and the assurance posture is strong and current (SOC 2 Type 2 for May 2025 to May 2026 covering Managed Fusion, self-hosted Fusion and the SaaS platform including Lucidworks AI; ISO/IEC 27001:2022 recertified August 2026; EU-US DPF certified; published sub-processor list). The rating stays at medium rather than limited because the platform is often pointed at internal knowledge bases, CRM and support content that can hold employee and customer personal data, generative answers and agents can be wrong or leak content if source permissions are misconfigured, customer-keyed LLM traffic to OpenAI, Google or Anthropic sits outside Lucidworks' sub-processor list and contract, and the hosting entity is US-based with no EU establishment found. It would drop to limited for a commerce-only deployment using catalog and pseudonymous signals with Lucidworks-hosted models and EU hosting confirmed. It would rise toward high if used to rank or filter people (for example candidate or patient search), in healthcare or financial advice use cases, or if conversational agents are exposed to the public without the disclosure required by EU AI Act Article 50.

75% - 9Netcore Unbxd· Netcore
Netcore Unbxd is an AI search and product discovery platform for ecommerce and B2B commerce sites, sold by Netcore (India) through its majority-owned US subsidiary Unbxd Inc. (acquired in 2022). It provides natural language site search, autosuggest, AI-driven category and browse page ranking, personalized product recommendations, catalog and feed enrichment, and a merchandising console where business users set boosts, rules and campaigns. The vendor also markets generative and conversational discovery (an AI shopping assistant) and agentic features for commerce teams. It is used by online retailers and brands (press coverage names Mattress Firm, Express, Ashley HomeStore, Advance Auto Parts and others) mainly in the US, UK and Australia, and Netcore Unbxd was named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Search and Product Discovery (vendor-reported). Inputs are the retailer's product catalog plus shopper behavior (queries, clicks, add-to-cart, purchases) and optional user identifiers for personalization. Rated medium: the core use case (product search and recommendations) is not an Annex III high-risk use under the EU AI Act, and the data is ordinary pseudonymous behavioral and catalog data rather than special categories, but the public evidence is weak for an EU buyer. The contracting entity is Netcore Pvt. Ltd. in Mumbai with no EU establishment found; the published sub-processors are AWS (India and USA), Google Cloud (India) and Webwerks (India), so EU shopper data would be transferred to third countries under the SCCs in Netcore's DPA; assurance is shown as logos and policy statements (ISO 27001:2022 and ISO 9001 claimed in the privacy policy, SOC 2 logo, no public report scope or dates) and the security page still cites ISO 27001:2013 and the invalidated EU Privacy Shield. The Search, Browse and Recs T&C (clause 2.10) also let Netcore use shopper behavior data, aggregated and anonymized, to develop its own products, and no LLM providers are disclosed for the generative assistant. The rating would fall to limited if the vendor confirms EU hosting or a clear data residency option, provides a current SOC 2 Type 2 or ISO certificate covering the Unbxd platform, discloses any LLM sub-processors with no-training terms, and lets customers opt out of product-improvement use of shopper data. It would rise if the deployment personalizes on logged-in customer profiles combined with sensitive attributes, or if the conversational assistant is used to give advice in regulated categories (health, financial products) without disclosure to shoppers under EU AI Act Article 50.

How we picked these +
We give every AI a score out of 100 based on how much it shares about itself. We look at five things:
- Who else is involved — does it tell you which other companies handle your data?
- Rules it follows — has it been checked against laws and standards?
- What it tells users — does it have a clear privacy policy, terms, and security promises?
- How it works — does it explain what it was trained on and how it was built?
- Doing the right thing — does it have rules about safe and fair use?
An AI has to share at least half of this to make the list. We rank by score. If two AIs tie, the more popular one wins. Each company can only show up once per list.
We get this information from what companies share publicly, the EU Open Source AI Index, and our own catalogue. Nobody pays to be on this list.
